The heat is on

Well, the heat is on here.

We had two weeks of on and off rain, and it made the lawns go crazy and grow grow grow, so we had to mow mow mow. Finally on the weekend it became nice enough that we could actually plant some of our veggies and start digging out the new flower beds that we (actually I) want. So in went tomatoes, spinach, onions, garlic, beets and snow peas. Sometime mid week, last week, I planted 2 blueberry bushes that I got for Mother's Day (yes, I really wanted them), and I planted another strawberry bush in out little patch. It looks like this year our strawberries are going to produce more than the one we got last year. Our biggest challenge before harvesting time is to try and keep the bunnies away from the sweet goodness.

Next up is to try and get the flower beds in shape. The area where we live in, you either belong to two camps, the camp that is fanatical about gardening and how dare a dandelion think to grow on your property, or the camp that just does not give a hoot, and let everything go wild. The wild bunch are few and far between, and we live on a street with flower power people. Top that off, our neighbour believes in cutting his lawn twice a week, so ours ALWAYS looks long no matter what we do. So it boils down to us just doing what we can when we can, so maybe I will go pull a few weeds ....

Thought for the day
June is around the corner and II can almost taste the warm from the garden strawberries.......
